The Sacral Chakra is located just below the navel in the pelvic girdle and resonates to the frequency of the colour orange. This chakra is where we experience the energy of emotions and feelings. Concepts like “gut feeling” or “gut-level intuition”, also known as clairsentience, stem from knowledge of this chakra. Tuning in to and honouring our feelings gives us access to guidance on what’s appropriate for each moment.

The Sacral Chakra is also all about relationships, where our Beingness connects horizontally with others. The Sacral Chakra gives us the opportunity to engage with the spiritual truth to Honour Ourselves and Others. Concepts around duality, such as us/them, light/dark, yin/yang, male/female, you/me originate in the Sacral Chakra. This chakra is about balancing and blending these polarities. 

Dysfunction in this chakra stems from deep emotional, sexual or sensual abuse. When we have been abused, volumes of energy which would normally have been channeled towards healthy development and relationships are blocked.

Visualizing and immersing oneself in the colour ORANGE brings balance to the Sacral Chakra. Balance in this chakra gives us the freedom to experience intimacy and sensual pleasure. We allow ease and pleasure into our lives when we give ourselves permission to simply just BE, and in so doing, we strengthen damaged Sacral Chakras.

For an interior space, you don’t have to fully immerse yourself in a monochrome Orange room to reap the benefits of a balanced Sacral Chakra.

To create the pizzazz and spiciness that Orange tones can bring to a space, you can use select pops of vibrant Orange hues as accents.

For a more subtle application, tone down the saturation of colour and choose neutralized oranges, like those found in natural materials such as copper, wood and wicker.
